How Nereus Tutor handles your data.

Scope

This policy explains how Nereus Tutor collects, uses, stores and shares personal information when you use nereustutor.com and the Nereus Tutor app. Nereus Tutor is the controller of that information. Contact us at hello@nereustutor.com.

What we collect

Your account: your username, your email address and whether it is verified, and your sign-in sessions. Your password is stored only as a one-way hash.

Your learning: your conversations, including messages, the tutor's replies and their alternative branches; what the tutor prepares in your workspace; the memory map it builds of what you've learned, how well you've shown it, and when to review it; and your flashcards, tags and review results.

Your documents: files you upload, and what we extract from them to read them (page images, text, sheets and embedded images).

Usage: for each request to an AI model or to web research, its time, model, size and cost, which we use to count your monthly credits. Our services also keep technical logs such as IP addresses and browser details.

Billing: if you subscribe, your subscription status and the billing email you enter. Polar, our payment provider, handles payment details; we never see your card number.

Your browser: we keep your preferences (theme, colors, text size and the Enter key) in local storage, and unsent drafts and sign-up progress in session storage, along with your sign-in tokens. We use no analytics or advertising cookies.

How we use it

To teach you: to answer, remember what you know, schedule reviews, read your documents and research the web when you ask. Also to count credits and enforce plan limits, to take payments, to send account emails such as verification codes and password reset links, to keep the service secure and prevent misuse, and to comply with the law.

AI processing

To generate each reply, we send an AI model provider your message, the conversation so far, the memories relevant to it, and the parts of your documents the tutor reads. The provider may use these prompts and its replies to improve its models. Please don't share anything you wouldn't want used that way.

When the tutor researches the web, its search queries and the addresses of the pages it reads are sent to a web search provider.

We don't promise complete privacy, and no online service can.

Who we share it with

Service providers that run Nereus Tutor for us: application hosting and databases, file storage, document processing, AI model providers and the service that routes requests to them, web search, email delivery, and payments. They process information to provide their service.

We may also disclose information where the law requires it or where it is reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety or the service, and to a successor in a merger, financing or sale of assets.

We don't sell personal information, and we don't share it for advertising.

If you link Relatoria

Relatoria's full-price plans include Nereus Tutor credits. If you link your Relatoria account, the two apps refer to the link only by identifiers created for it. Relatoria tells us whether your plan includes credits, how many, until when, and whether they come from a subscription or a founding lifetime. We tell Relatoria when you link or unlink, with a coded identifier for your Nereus account that lets Relatoria limit how often one subscription moves to a different account.

Neither app receives your email, name, conversations or activity from the other. You can unlink at any time from Account.

Legal bases and international processing

Where data-protection laws such as the GDPR apply, we process personal information to perform our contract with you, for legitimate interests such as running, securing and improving the service, to comply with legal obligations, and with your consent where a feature depends on your choice.

We and our providers may process information outside your country. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for international transfers.

How long we keep it

We keep your information while your account exists and as long as needed for the purposes above, including legal, accounting and security needs. When you delete a conversation or a document, it is removed; a document's files are deleted once nothing you keep still uses them. To delete your account and its data, email hello@nereustutor.com. Information in your browser stays until you clear it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal information, to restrict or object to some uses of it, and to complain to a data-protection authority.

To make a request, email hello@nereustutor.com. We may ask for information that confirms the account is yours.

Security

Connections are encrypted, each account's memory data is isolated in the database, and access to systems is restricted. No system is perfectly secure.

Children

Nereus Tutor is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, email hello@nereustutor.com.

Changes

We'll update this page when our practices change, and change the date at the top. Where a change is material, we may also tell you directly.
